Who are we?
We are an independent body, set up by legislation to investigate and make decisions when someone has been unable to resolve a complaint about how their pension has been managed. Our service is free, and we have legal powers to make decisions that are final, binding, and enforceable in court.

Purpose of the role
The Stakeholder Engagement Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering Stakeholder Engagement strategies and plans that support our broader Communications and Engagement Strategy. Acting as an ambassador for TPO, they should have a keen political eye and be comfortable identifying and managing key stakeholder relationships and promoting the organisation’s aims and objectives. A natural communicator, they will tell the story of TPO, framing the messages that will make the most difference and supporting delivery across a range of channels. They will lead our events calendar of owned and third-party events, helping to build the reputation of TPO and driving improvements in pensions administration.
Key duties

Make best use of TPO’s determinations, data and expertise to build our reputation and demonstrate the impact we make. Developing credible ‘insight led’ guidance for the broader sector.

Use best practice engagement strategies to identify, build and maintain key stakeholder relationships. Including working with delivery partners, regulators, advocacy organisations, and across government to help communicate TPO’s work and build our reputation.

Lead our parliamentary affairs work. Responsibilities will include supporting Exec in preparation for Select Committee hearings, managing our MP and parliamentary correspondence, and building relationships with key government stakeholders.

Monitor and support our reputation management, proactively briefing the Exec Board on issues or concerns. Be comfortable working at board level delivering briefings on key topics and issues and developing positioning briefs.

Digitally savvy and creative you will be adept at working with the organisation to create engaging information and guidance that helps the sector improve the standard of pensions administration and complaint handling.

Support TPO’s efforts in becoming data and insight led by identifying key information that is most valuable for the sector and lead the development of insight led communications tools.

You should be comfortable building reports and using data to demonstrate the difference made by communications and engagement activities and proactively using data to drive improvements.

Be comfortable representing the organisation at speaking events and oversee our events planning and management, ensuring that we deliver a calendar of professional, informative events for a range of stakeholder audiences. Ensure that we attend and speak at relevant third-party events and that our speakers have the right tools and support to deliver engaging and relevant speeches and presentations.
